Neuro-Portal Odyssey

She was so fascinated after reading the life before multiverses that she really wanted to go and explore it herself. She thought about it over and over, leaning back in her chair. Time travelling through Neuro-Portals is quite risky. Her parents, as renowned scientists, had already made her well aware of the dangers of this. It requires utmost care, precise calculations and deep understanding. Interacting with the past or future can cause logical inconsistencies which leads to paradoxes. The extreme temporal acceleration can cause fatigues. Moreover, the fabric of time is really fragile which can be disrupted by even the slightest disturbances, which is a great risk to the traveler.

For adventure, people use Neuro-portals to travel to civilizations of past or future or even fictional worlds. These expeditions are virtual and controlled by AI. But real time travel requires experience. Certified experts who have been through rigorous training, like her parents, are the only people allowed to time travel.

She went on with her research. She was working to find out a vulnerability in the Portal algorithm. If she could find one, she might be able to crack it and do time-travelling as she she had always wanted to. Her eyes scanned through the lines of codes streaming across her console. As a young hacker, it was her new obsession to crack the security protocols of Neuro-Portal Regulation Agency.

Suddenly a minor anomaly caught her attention. This was previously overlooked by her sharp eyes. Her heart beat fast as she realized its implications. This could be her key to travel to her dreams. She spent hours, fueled with determination, and crafted a sophisticated algorithm, which can harmlessly manipulate the system's protocols. This could help her bypass the security systems without certifications.

She typed in the codes in utmost care and precision. The room began to blur, colors dissolved, she could feel the portal interacting with her brain waves. The hum continued on to become a roar, painful to her ears. She felt her whole body being stretching and snapping as it whizzed through time. She felt a sudden fear, what if her algorithm had some dangerous effects on the timestream?

Her eyes widened in awe as stood marveling at the New York city of the 21st century. She strolled through the Central Park, mesmerized by the greenery. She watched the couples and children and the street performers. The more she explored, the more she felt like living. "Life was worth living in this world." She thought.

She stumbled into a Jazz Club one evening. The music and its rhythm captivated her. She met a man named Max. She felt a deep inner connection with him as if they had met in some parallel universes. They talked about everything, from science to movies, from past to future. Astra could not relate why people wanted to explore the life in multiverses. She knew how different and monotonous it was. She badly wanted to tell him the catastrophic consequences in the middle of multiverse.

As they parted ways, she felt bad she could not convey her feelings. She badly wanted to preserve this world as it is. But she realized her actions are not enough. The allure of multiverse was too great and beyond her reach. She looked at her timepiece. She would have to return, or her algorithm would deactivate and she will be trapped here forever. She had to go. She looked around her, the skyscrapers, trees, cars, merry children, all of them will disappear with just a click. She felt a sympathy for this world. Why wouldn't it remain the same?

With a swift move of her finger, she activated the portal to go back to her aimless existence. As she drifted, she kept on thinking about finding a way to prevent the scientists from discovering the Neuro-Portals. She felt putting all knowledge she had to change the path of humanity, from this purposeless greed for advancements, to meaningful need for living peacefully.

She sighed as she sat back in her study. She deactivated her beautiful algorithm once and for all. She began her new research, to prevent people from crazy advancements, to protect the place she loved.

However, the fate of reality hung in the balance. She might delay the catastrophe but could never prevent what is inevitable. If she ever succeeded, she wouldn't be existing. So, was her plan actually preventing a catastrophe or creating another? Only time would tell...
