Reality Shift : Story of Neuro-Portal Odyssey

Welcome to 2178, a world of endless possibilities. Humanity has reached unprecedented heights of advancement in technology. The boundaries of space, time and consciousness have been dissolved and man lives in a new era of evolution where we are the masters of every entity.

Age of Neuro Portal

Neuro portal is a discovery of the 22nd century which enables people to travel through multiverse defying the dimensions of space and time. This technology has revolutionized humanity by opening doors to different new worlds, civilizations and newer versions of ourselves.

Neural Networks

Scientists in 22nd century have developed a network called the Neural Network which helps connect the user's brain to multiverse with the use of AI interfaces which can read Brain signals. This allows the user to control the portal with his thoughts. This Neuro portal can transport your consciousness to an alternate reality and let you explore the multiverse.

People of this world uses it as a means of escapism. They transport from world to world whenever they feel like. In order not to let the people misuse these portals, society has set up new forms and regulations leading to the establishments of Inter-universal Governments and Treaties.

One of the key rules in this world is that people who travel in Neuro-Portal have to adhere to a time limit. The Auto-Return feature of AI makes sure that people return to their original world after a set time period. The AI also monitors the safety of travelers.

What do you think living a life in this world would feel like? Comment down below...

Astra's Expedition through time

Astra, is a girl born into a family of scientists. She has lived a life travelling through multiverses more than any girl of her age could have done. She has always been a passionate traveler, spending hours to learn new possibilities both from experienced people and by experimenting herself.

One night, Astra was doing her research on multiverses when something suddenly struck her mind. With the possibility of infinite universes what is the significance of human existence, what is its purpose? Responsibilities? If there are multiple versions of oneself, which one is the 'true-self'? What is the significance of moral principles and values? What is our true culture? And most importantly where is fun in life if it is not permanent? If you don't like something in the world, just port to another which you like. What is fun about that?

She felt suddenly sad. She opened her flipbook and activated her portal. She closed her eyes and imagined a place she wanted to be. She heard the humming of the neuro-portal. It was the sound she was the most familiar to, like a mother's lullaby. She felt as if she was floating. She could feel the reality blurring into kaleidoscopic textures over her closed eyes.

She opened them to see herself in a large Library of Holobooks, arranged in stacks of endless rows and columns. The Bot came floating towards her asking what she would like to do. She said simply," I want to know the purpose of my existence." The Bot instantly brought several Holobooks from different parts of the library and stated, " These are the results that I found."

Among them, only one got her attention. It was titled," The World before Multiverse." ' Woah! That looks cool!' she pointed. The Bot gave her the information:
"This Holobook lets you experience the world of the past wherein people did not have the technologies enough to conduct Neuro-porting. The people of the past used to live a life confined in the limitation of choices. Would you like to experience it?"

She wore her Virtual reality set and went into the portal of the Holobook. It was an article written by a revolutionist who insisted on going back to the life in reality. She was so fascinated after reading it that she wanted to go explore the past herself. She teleported herself back to her study.

What could happen if she actually time travels to the 21st century? The possibilities are endless, but will she get what she wanted?
